Infographic of the Formation of Life Timescale Projected onto a 24-Hour Clock

This is an example of using infographics to convey difficult-to-visualize topics that are more easily understood when drawn out on paper. This infographic is a depiction of the geologic timescale starting at the birth of the Earth at 1 second and ends with the creation of the modern man at 1 second from midnight. It helps us visualize just how new the human race is.

This is one of my favorite infographic ideas because it really shows how insignificant the human race is in the grand scheme of time, though we have managed to have some of the biggest impacts on the environment thus far. It helps put into perspective how the natural world came to be. It is saddening to know that in 1 second out of 24 hours, we've had such a large negative impact on the environment, but it is also a reminder that we can do something to reverse what has happened in the past "one second". It shows how much life has flourished before us and how it can continue to flourish naturally.
